I'm curious as to how a few well-known supers (e.g. from the Marvel or DC universe) might translate into this game. What might their stats end up looking like? Just seeing this might help understand the system and stats a bit better, and how they work.
Though I realize this could open a gateway to laziness and derivative play, if people actually started using these characters to play games, rather than creating their own. I mean, that's half of the charm of gone right there!

This is a common question that most new Superhero RPG's face.
And while you eloquently point out that one of the Strengths of the system is creating your own original hero, the question remains a good one. After all it is these comic books that will inspire most of player's games.
I'll post a few of Marvel and DC's heroes and villains to help display the system in this thread. Keep in mind of course that such versions are simply one interpretation of these characters, and every writer/creative team brings a different take on just how potent a comic-book character is.
We will start with the subject of the latest Major Motion Picture release: Captain America.
Captain America (experienced version) Identity: Steve Rogers
Accuracy: 3- hand to hand (martial arts), 3- throw shield, 3- rebound shield Mobility: 2- acrobatics, 2- run, 2- jump, 2- dodge Toughness: 4- vibranium shield, 4- iron morals and will, 2- 1,000 battles, Might: 2- powerful blows, 2- strength Brains: 3- leadership, 2- reputation Senses:
Superpower finesse: 4- athletic, 3- shield, 2- character
Weakness: Out of time - Captain America is from a different generation, even worse he has not lived through the last 50 years of changes. Moral Code - Steve Rogers iron code of morals can often put him in difficult places. Shield - It is possible for Captain America's shield to be taken from him. Strainpoints: 9 Lifepoints: 6
Relations: see note below
Description of Talents: Hand-to-hand (3- accuracy): Captain America displays great skill in melee combat.
Throw Shield (3- accuracy): Captain America can hurl his shield with impressive force and precision.
Rebound Shield (3- accuracy): When hurling his shield, Cap' can strike three targets in succession. In order for the shield to return to his grasp he must be one of these 3 targets. Secondary and tertiary targets are assailed with 2 and 1 dice respectively. Captain America can also attempt to hit opponents around corners by rebounding it of walls or other surfaces.
Acrobatics (2- mobility): Captain America can flip, twist, spin, somersault, etc. This can help him prevent damage from falling and can be useful in a number of other situations.
Run (2- mobility): Steve is the equal of any Olympian.
Jump (2- mobility): Steve is the equal of any Olympian. This combined with his acrobatics helps him easily turn any obstacles to his advantage.
Dodge (2- mobility): When his shield cannot help him, Captain America is still quiet capable of avoiding harm.
Vibranium Shield (4- toughness): Captain America's shield is not just a symbol, it is virtually indestructible. More importantly Steve knows how to employ it in order to deflect the force of blows, and block almost all attacks.
Iron Morals and Will (4- toughness): Above all Captain America cares deeply about people, his country, and right and wrong. This gives him a deep pool of inner resourcefulness he can call upon when necessary. Steve has 9 Strainpoints, and four -1's before it descends to -2.
1,000 Battles (2- Toughness): Captain America has fought more battles than most of us have taken walks in the park. He knows how to grit through the pain and shake off the fuzziness at the corner of his vision and keep fighting. Steve rolls two dice when attempting to remain conscious.
Powerful Blows (2- might): Rogers' muscles were enhanced by the super-soldier experiment, as such he can deliver powerful blows.
Strength (2- might): Rogers' enhanced physic enables him to bend bars, break-down doors and easily lift 375 lbs.
Leadership (3- brains): Captain America knows how to direct troops and allies. It does not take him an action to co-ordinate complex tasks or attacks (dice pools). Additionally if he spends a Strainpoint he can add this talent to any dice pool of his allies that he suggests (Captain America's encouragement enables his allies to perform better.)
Reputation (2- brains): Everyone has heard of and respects Captain America.
Background and Personality:
Appearance: Red-White-and-Blue
Group: Avengers Orientation: Hero Role: Leader-Warrior
Captain America as a Starting character would look a little more like this:
Captain America (starting character Well-rounded array) Identity: Steve Rogers
Accuracy: 3- hand to hand (martial arts), 3- throw shield, 2- rebound shield Mobility: 2- run, 2- jump Toughness: 4- vibranium shield, 3- iron morals and will Might: 2- strength Brains: Senses:
Superpower finesse: 3- athletic, 3- shield
Weakness: Moral Code - Steve Rogers iron code of morals can often put him in difficult places. Shield - It is possible for Captain America's shield to be taken from him.
Strainpoints: 8 Lifepoints: 6
Relations I'm a little uncomfortable making hard and fast calls on Steve Rogers relations. (Not being particularly well read in Captain America lore). But they probably include:
2-3 - Bucky Barnes 2-3 - The Red Skull (nemesis) 1 - Peggy Carter ('lost' relation, WWII love interest) 1-2 Sharon Carter (sister-niece of Peggy, current love interest)
Captain America is of course Marvel Comics IP.

I'll probably add some more to Marvel's Spider-Man, but here is the bones of one version of him.
Spider-Man Identity: Peter Parker
Accuracy: 3- kicks and punches, 3- web targets*, 3- web shape* Mobility: 5- fast reflexes, 4- web swing*, 4- stick to walls, 3- jump, 2- acrobatics Toughness: 3- web strength* Might: 3- kicks and punches, 3 or 4- proportional strength of a spider Brains: 2- chemistry, 2- mocking voice (witty repartee), 2- reporter Senses: 4- spider-sense
Superpower Finesse: 4- web, 3- agile, *Peter’s web-shooters are considered flexible tech.
Weakness: Poor. Web-shooters run out of fluid. Things don’t go smooth.
Strainpoints: 6 Lifepoints: 6
Relations: 4- Mary Jane, 3 Gwen Stacey (lost relation - formerly 4), 1- Felicia Hardy (the Black Cat), 1- Betty Brant, 3- May Parker, 2- Ben Parker (lost relation), 2- Harry Osborn, 1- Flash Thompson, 1- Ben Reilly (lost relation - formerly 2), 2 or 1- Midtown High, 1- Daily Bugle Nemesi 2- Green Goblin, 2- Venom, 1- Doctor Octopus
some of the above are open to debate, but this does capture most of what are friendly neighbourhood hero can do.

Marvel Universe

Well any requests? If there is interest I'll happily elaborate on any of the above, or write-up another hero.

The Hulk anyone

The Hulk anyone The Hulk is a difficult character to model in an RPG, because he has a concept of, "The Angrier Hulk gets, the Stronger* Hulk gets." *When one talks of the Hulk, Strength also means how tough he is. And his rage seems to let him completely ignore damage. So I created a special talent to reflect this. Note it is a rank-6 talent (the normal maximum talent is rank-5, players would need special compensation from the GM to ever have a 6). This is because it is extremely potent, and because the Hulk is the strongest (see definition above) character in the Marvel Universe. There have been many variations on the Hulk and what he can do. Here is one example. The HULKIdentity: Dr. Bruce Banner Accuracy: Mobility: 4- jump, 2- run, 2- giant Toughness: 5- Anger Regeneration, 3- toughness Might: 6* - Anger, 3- hit, 3- bend and lift, 2- clap, 2- smash ground, 2- throw debris Brains: 2- raging mind, 2- science (Banner), 2- well-known scientist (Banner) Senses: Superpower finesse: Strong- 3, Anger- 3, Science- 2 (Banner) Weakness: Split personality, monstrous appearance when Hulk, Anger, Automatically falls counscious in negative Lifepoints, reverts to Banner when unconscious, Hulk has a child-like mind, Turns into Hulk whenever scared or hurt or startled or angry. Strainpoints: 6 Lifepoints: 6 Special Anger: 0 Relations: 3- Betty Ross, 2- Science (Banner), 1- Rick Jones, 1- Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk), 1- Doc Samson, 1- General "Thunderbolt" Ross (nemisis?) Description of Talents:Anger (might- 6): Every round the Hulk is attacked or taunted, he gains an anger point. For every 2 anger points, he adds 1 dice to any might attack or feat he makes. The Hulk can spend a Strainpoint to gain an Anger point. The Hulk has a maximum of 6 anger points. Anger points dissipate at different rates at different levels. When the Hulk returns to 0 anger points he turns back into Bruce Banner. Anger dissipation 1 Anger point - 1 hour 2-3 Anger points - 1 minute 4 Anger points - 3 Actions 5-6 Anger points - 1 ActionAnger Regeneration (toughness- 5): Hulk regenerates 1/2 a lifepoint for each Anger point he posseses, every action. Most of the rest of the Talents are fairly self-explanatory. Note that the Hulk cannot use the talents marked "Banner" and Banner cannot use any of the Hulk's talents unless he transforms (at which point he has little if any control of the Hulk's actions). Background and Personality:Appearance: A giant green Hulk Group: Avengers (Sometimes) Orientation: Rampaging Hero Role: Raging Brawler
